Espirita is thrilled to announce that we have partnered with a leading NHS provider in the East of England to recruit an experienced Sonographer for a Band 7 position.

  • Salary: Band 7 between £43,742 – £50,056  
  • Annual Leave: 27 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays. After 5 years of service, this rises to 29 – 33 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Sponsorship: Offered if required.

What will you be doing in this role? 

We are seeking a dedicated Sonographer who can fulfil the following responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive ultrasound examinations and providing accurate reports.
  • Independently performing and reporting on all examinations.
  • Working rotationally through all parts of the ultrasound service including the General Radiology Department, Ambulatory Emergency Centre, the Antenatal Department, and Community hospitals.
  • Undertaking examinations in abdominal, gynecology, pediatric, small parts, MSK, some vascular examinations, and all aspects of obstetric ultrasound.
  • Contributing to several one-stop clinics ensuring our patients receive a first-class service.
  • Training and supervising junior sonographers and assistant staff.
  • Effectively managing the daily workflow.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of patient records.
  • Taking an active role in teaching and practical training of student Sonographers, specialist registrars, and others in training.

What are the requirements for this role? 

  • UK HCPC registration.
  • Must be CASE accredited in General Medical and Obstetric Ultrasound.
  • Degree qualification in Radiography (or equivalent).
  • Post Grad Certificate or Diploma in medical ultrasound, gynae, obstetrics and abdominal ultrasound.
  • Experience scanning Abdominal, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Small parts, DVT, Carotid and vascular scans on both inpatient and outpatients.
  • Experience participating in clinical audit work.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work and inspire a team. Able to create a team ethos and demonstrate motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication. Ability to pass on knowledge to others in a clear and concise way.
  • Competently undertake and prioritise a complex clinical workload.
  • The ability to interpret scans and make an appropriate diagnosis from a range of multiple possibilities.
  • Ability to teach student sonographers, medical and other healthcare professionals.
  • Empathic and able to deal sensitively with patients from all cultural backgrounds.
  • Able to deal with frequent distressing clinical situations.
