Role: Health Visitor

Location: Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospital Trust

Salary: Bands 5 and 6 (£37,338 to £44,962)

Start Date: ASAP

Sandwell and West Birmingham hospital have recently been fortunate enough to add a brand new state of the art hospital to their Trust with the opening of the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. This new hospital has allowed for the trust to now concentrate on continuing to grow the other services offered by the trust.
The Trusts Health Visitor Service is currently rated “Outstanding” by the CQC and With this in mind we are currently assisting Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospital in their search for Health Visitors to join the Team and help them continue to provide an outstanding service.

What we need from you:

  • You should be a qualified Nurse/Midwife
  • You should have qualified (or currently in training) as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN)
  • Have experience working in the UK as a Health Visitor (Healthy Child Practitioner)
  • Evidence of continued Professional Development
  • An awareness and understanding of the knowledge and skills necessary for the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of Health Promotion
  • Experience of working in partnership with other agencies/patients/public
  • Experience of current legislation relating to Child Protection and how it relates to practice
  • Awareness of National & Local Policies on Primary Care
  • Awareness of using Pubic Health approaches
  • Excellent oral and written communication/interpersonal skills
  • To adhere to the lone working policy
  • Able to complete accurate, concise and contemporaneous patient records, reports and other relevant documents when working within time constraints

Your duties will include:

  • Undertake family health care needs assessments (HCNA).
  • Identify vulnerable families with special needs and those experiencing health or social crises. Mobilise appropriate resources to manage the care and provide support.
  • Identify children at risk and follow Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust (SWBH) safeguarding policies & procedures.
  • Manage workload in a corporate way within the integrated health visiting team.
  • Effectively manage own time in planning workload, in conjunction with other team members, including cover during annual leave/training.
  • Create an environment in which colleagues of all disciplines enjoy good working relationships and share new and relevant information.
  • Adopt a research approach to health visiting practice, utilise all relevant research findings and implement evidence based practice, to ensure positive health outcomes.
  • Identify the health needs and desired outcomes within the identified client caseload.
  • Discuss & record clinical incidents that may impact on effective & safe working by following clinical governance guidelines.
