The Trust are currently hiring for a Neurology Consultant to join the current close knit specialist team of 4 and will be supported by a further multidisciplinary team, the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment, whilst enjoying the unique benefits of city living with a country lifestyle in Herefordshire and the surrounding areas.

What we need from you:

• MRCP Qualified or equivalent
• Full GMC Registration
• Entry on the Specialist Register (or CCT expected within 6 months from the date of interview)
• Clinical training and experience in the management of stroke medicine.
• Experience in management of broad general caseloads
• Ability to work well with colleagues and within a team
• Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives
• The ability to effectively develop and lead the service
• Evidence of effective teaching of medical students, doctors in training and the multidisciplinary team

Your duties will include:

• To provide a high quality service in Neurology (and General Internal Medicine inpatients) to the patients of Herefordshire and the surrounding area, using evidence-based guidelines and clinical governance structures
• To provide clinical expertise and support to all staff at place and system level involved in the delivery of Neurological services
• To offer advice / support / education to medical, nursing, managerial and other staff on appropriate matters
• To participate in the formal appraisal of junior medical staff in accordance with guidelines from the Royal College of Physicians and the Regional Postgrad Via Teams
• To participate in medical audit on a regular basis and develop relevant audit projects
• To support the Clinical Directors and Service Unit Director with appropriate advice with regard to the development of Neurology and Medical services at Wye Valley NHS Trust
• To contribute to the training of nurses, paramedical, scientific and technical staff
