About the role

We are seeking experienced, compassionate, and adaptable Registered Nurses across behavioural health specialties to join a respected health system in Fairbanks, Alaska, on a three‑year contract.

As a Behavioural Health RN, you will deliver safe, high‑quality mental health care while working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. This facility is known for strong nurse‑to‑patient ratios, excellence in trauma and psychiatric care, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, patient‑centred behavioural health care aligned with clinical and therapeutic standards

  • Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and manage treatments including IV therapy when required

  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to assess mental health needs and implement care plans

  • Document psychiatric assessments, interventions, and progress accurately and promptly

  • Respond to psychiatric crises and medical emergencies using de‑escalation and emergency procedures

  • Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies, and discharge planning

  • Maintain strict adherence to hospital policies, safety protocols, and behavioural health regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • NCLEX‑RN passed (or actively preparing)

  • English language proficiency

  • Minimum 24 months of recent acute care experience

  • Willingness to relocate to Alaska for at least three years
